About Elizabeth

I was born and raised in the suburbs of
I have a graduate degree in Chemistry (of all things). I
worked for years in labs and then in lovely orange cubicles, reviewing
studies performed to meet environmental, and then pharmaceutical
regulations. I realized pretty early on that
chemistry wasn’t my “calling” (although it did pay the rent), and
started writing on the side to keep myself happy.
The
more time I spent writing the more addicted I got to it, creating
characters and worlds, getting inside characters’ heads to understand
their personality, and learn how they’ll react to the trials I’m
putting them through–and yes, I know they’re not real, but while I’m
writing them they feel as real as my own friends and family members.
really
almost feels like the book writes itself, the characters telling me
what happened in their lives and how they feel about it. I’m
lucky to have an extremely
accommodating husband, who both understands when I spend weekends with
my nose in my notebooks, and is willing to be my first (and second and
third) reader, often even helping me construct subplots.
I’m currently at work on my next novel, which will be published by Bantam in the summer of 2009.
